Big Melbourne Doorknock & Training

The federal election is less than two months away! Join Victorian Socialists volunteers on Tuesday April 19 to help us take our message of putting people before profits to thousands of residents in Carlton North (Melbourne electorate)

We'll also be promoting our fabulous candidates for the area. Running for the seat of Melbourne, Colleen Bolger is a strident advocate for workers and the oppressed. In 2002 she was part of the Woomera detention centre protests that saw activists and refugees tear down fences, freeing detainees. And our Senate candidate is Aran Mylvaganam, a former refugee and lifelong anti-racism campaigner and trade union organiser, and founder of the Tamil Refugee Council.

New volunteers are welcome! This is an all-in Victorian Socialists campaign event, so we encourage volunteers and supporters from across the state to join us, no matter which electorate you live in.

How the day will run:

  • We'll meet at 2pm at Curtain Square park, off Rathdowne Street in North Carlton. There'll be a short briefing to discuss talking points, and to hand out material and maps for the doorknock.
  • At 2.15pm, volunteers who’ve doorknocked before will leave in pairs. Meanwhile, first timers can participate in a training workshop with experienced campaigners before heading out.
  • After doorknocking for a few hours we'll come back together at Curtain Square for a debrief.
