Build Homes Not Prisons

Despite being flush with cash, Victoria has the lowest per capita funding for mental health services in Australia and is destroying public housing to hand it over to private property developers.

Homelessness is on the rise. Lack of access to mental health service and affordable secure housing are key contributing factors. Scandalously, despite being flush with cash, Victoria has the lowest per capita funding for mental health services in Australia and is destroying public housing to hand it over to private property developers.

At the same time, the state government is spending big on the coercive aspects of the state - $700million for a maximum security prison and millions on new militarised weaponry for the police.

We need to demand the state government #BuildHomesNotPrisons & start focusing on #CommunityNeedNotDeveloperGreed
