Victorian Socialist Contingent to World Refugee Day Rally

Meet from 12:45pm under the Victorian Socialists banner at the State Library or come earlier to help with the VS stall.

On Saturday June 18, Victorian Socialists will be joining the World Refugee Day rally organised by Refugee Action Collective. The rally’s demands are to:

- Let the Medevac Refugees Stay

- End Offshore Processing – Bring Them Here

- Free the Refugees.

Victorian Socialists is the only party that campaigned for the complete abolition of mandatory detention and of Australian Border Force in the recent federal election, and we were proud to be joined by 200 refugee volunteers on election day.

But politics does not begin or end at the ballot box. The fight for open borders, to welcome refugees directly into the community, to give refugees living in the community full political and economic rights, and to provide them with the support they need to thrive continues outside the election, on the streets.

Breaking the bipartisan cruelty towards refugees will take a mass movement made up of Refugees and those that stand in solidarity with them. Victorian Socialists are proud to contribute to building such a movement, and we ask all our supporters and volunteers to join us for World Refugee Day.
