Join us for our first ever Banyule VS meeting and help kick off our 2024 council election campaign!

What to expect

Victorian Socialists are planning a huge campaign for this October's local council elections.

We'll be running candidates across as many council areas as possible, and believe we're in with a strong chance of electing more socialist councillors in a number of areas.

The main speaker at this event will be Lucas Moore, who will be our lead candidate in the Olympia council ward.

Lucas is a long-term fighter against injustice and inequality, was an organiser in the successful campaign to stop the demolition of the Preston Market, and chaired the recent rallies urging Banyule council to pass a motion against Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

He has lived in Heidelberg Heights most of his life, and is passionate about standing against the growing cost-of-living crisis.

The meeting will also be a chance to hear from VS campaign coordinators about how you can get involved and fight for councils that stand up for communities, and put people before profit at a local level.

There will be time for questions and discussion, so come along and let us know about the local issues that concern you.
