Hi, I’m Beth. I’m a mother of three, a disability support worker, and have been a renter in the outer-eastern suburbs my entire life. I’ve personally been impacted by the rising cost of living, a lack of essential services and housing instability.
I’m running with the Victorian Socialists in this year’s state election because I have been frustrated at the lack of any tangible movement in government on issues that I feel are urgent.
The Victorian Socialists are a party that actively fight for the working class to ensure that everyone has access to what they need. By implementing a fair taxation system we can actually start to address the cost of living crisis and housing inequality, as well as safeguarding our planet, assisting a transition to renewable energy, and ensuring everyone has access to affordable healthcare.
Particularly, I would fight for genuinely affordable access to mental healthcare and other preventative healthcare, as this is proven to be more cost effective than treating poor health outcomes and allows people a better quality of life.
As a parent, I want to give my children the best. I want them to lead happy, healthy, safe lives and so it is my responsibility to do everything in my power to make that happen. I previously ran a campaign to improve pedestrian crossings in the Yarra Valley and have been involved in local conservation projects. I have also been involved with campaigns against racism and anti-war demonstrations.
