Hey, I'm Bree Vanderpol. I'm representing the Victorian Socialists in Geelong this state election.
For years I've had to watch corporations rake in record profits, crucial infrastructure be sold and left in disrepair, and friends and family be forced out of rentals to line the pockets of landlords. It's time we fight for better. We deserve better.
As a minimum-wage worker myself I see first-hand the stresses and fears that grip the working class here in Geelong. I have had to sit and watch from the sidelines like many of us, as our beautiful CBD decays, and our Market Square is left to rot while the international investors that privatised it profit from their own negligent, selfish decisions.
My mission for this election is to be a voice of reason for the Geelong community, to fight for a fair go, to fight against the torrent of hate spewing from the anti-worker and racist One Nation party, and to fight against the big corporations that bleed us dry while they sit back and watch their charts soar higher. Nobody should have the cost of groceries hanging over their head all day, and I will fight on your behalf for that liberty.
I am proud to be a part of the Victorian Socialists’ Geelong branch. We may not have the funding the larger parties have, but that is no reason not to fight for change. Someone has to stand up for the little guy, and if I am elected to parliament in November I will fight for a better tomorrow.
We deserve to live in a world where the stresses of the cost of living and whether we can afford the roof over our heads don’t plague our daily lives.
