Candidate for Kalkallo

I believe in rebuilding a society based on the interests of the working class - one based on care rather than punishment, solidarity rather than racism, and public investment rather than privatisation.

Hi I'm Courtney. I'm running as the Victorian Socialists candidate for Kalkallo in this November's state election.

I'm a proud public-school teacher, unionist and Craigieburn local. I'm standing as a candidate in this election because I believe our political system should serve average working-class people, not the interests of the wealthiest few.

The housing crisis is not an accident; it is the result of treating housing as a commodity instead of a human right. We need to build large-scale public housing, freeze rents, and crack down on investors who leave homes empty while people are pushed into overcrowding, debt, or homelessness. Secure, affordable housing must be guaranteed for everyone.

The cost-of-living crisis is hitting workers, families, students, and retirees alike. The answer is not austerity, but stronger and properly funded public services. Essential services such as childcare, healthcare, and aged care should be high-quality, affordable, and publicly owned. We must also strengthen workplace and union rights so workers can organise for fair pay and conditions.

As a teacher, I'm passionate about defending and expanding public education. Fully funded, inclusive public schools are essential to a just and democratic society. I'm also proudly pro-Palestine and stand for international solidarity, human rights, and an end to oppression wherever it occurs.

I believe in rebuilding a society based on the interests of the working class - one based on care rather than punishment, solidarity rather than racism, and public investment rather than privatisation. That means better public transport, environmentally sustainable planning, strong local services, and communities supported to thrive without resorting to fear-based 'law and order' politics.

If I'm elected to parliament in November, I'll fight for you.
