Hello, I’m Dorothy and I'm proud to be running in the state election as the Victorian Socialists’ lead candidate for the Northern Victoria upper house region.

As an immigrant who moved to Australia in 2017 I have since become a dedicated community activist and advocate for socialism.

I have navigated my way through social and public housing while also experiencing homelessness. Through this I have gained first-hand experience of the disastrous housing crisis this state faces. We must address this issue and build high quality public housing to provide for all those in need.

Landlords and property hoarders also contribute heavily to the housing shortage and the struggles faced by renters. This is why I’ll be fighting for the Victorian Socialists’ policy of a 25 percent cut to all residential tenancy costs followed by a five-year rent freeze, and for a crackdown on land banking and property hoarding.

The rise of the far right, especially One Nation, has fuelled division and hatred - with working-class immigrants, the queer community and Indigenous people among the main targets. This hatred is being weaponised to distract working-class people from the task of collectively organising to fight for a better deal from a political system rigged in the interests of One Nation-backing billionaires like Gina Rinehart.

The health, energy, transport and agriculture sectors are falling apart through the underfunding and privatisation of essential industries while working-class people can’t afford the goods and services we need to enjoy a healthy life.

As your candidate I will fight for services our communities depend on - like childcare, healthcare, public education, and public transport - to be expanded and made free and available for all. I will fight the far right and their billionaire backers. And I will fight to ensure Northern Victoria is a place where everyone, no matter their background or circumstances, can live a decent life.
