Housing is a human right—we need policy that foregrounds people’s right to a home over the power of mega-investors to turn a profit.
Hi I’m Jacob. I’m running in this year’s state election as a candidate with Victorian Socialists because I believe in a society that puts people before profit.
I’m a Mount Waverley resident and have lived here my whole life. I’m a digital media designer and a student. In the past, I've worked in various cafes and shops in the local area.
While many of us find it increasingly hard to get by, the mega-rich continue to grow their wealth on the back of rising housing costs and price-gouging of essential goods.
Owning a home feels more and more like a distant dream, especially for young people. Housing is a human right—we need policy that foregrounds people’s right to a home over the power of mega-investors to turn a profit.
We also need to see urgent action on climate change—the profits of billionaires cannot be prioritised over the health of our planet.
I've been a community organiser and activist for many years, being involved in the Campaign Against Racism and Fascism, where I helped organise counter-demonstrations against extreme racists, as well as protests for the rights of refugees and migrants.
Recently, I have been a regular attendee at rallies in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
If I'm elected in November, I’ll fight for our community, and for the better world that we need and deserve.
