For too long we have seen major parties attempt to divide and distract us in order to maintain a status quo that only benefits the wealthy elite.
Hi, I’m Michael. I’m running as the Victorian Socialists candidate for Hastings in
November’s state election. I’ve been a Crib Point local for five years now, and grew up on the Mornington Peninsula.
I believe we have a duty to fight for a fairer society with its foundation in well-funded public schools, affordable and quality housing, and public ownership of critical resources and infrastructure. We have to stand against the short-sighted, self-destructive agenda of corporations and corrupt politicians that have put profit before people for decades.
Working in the NDIS for the last several years, I have seen firsthand the devastating and traumatic impacts Labor’s massive cuts are having on the disabled community, their families, and our community at large. It is clear that establishment parties will only ever see people living with disabilities as a burden, and that we must fight for everyone’s right to independence and equal access.
For too long we have seen major parties attempt to divide and distract us in order to maintain a status quo that only benefits the wealthy elite. Meanwhile our public schools are left with dwindling resources, the hardest working and most dedicated members of our society are so often left in rental or mortgage stress, and the costs of basic necessities like food, water and power continue to rise.
Workers are increasingly struggling to get by, all alongside record profits made by companies leeching off privatised assets built with taxpayer money.
From food insecurity to the straining health system, from attacks on free speech to racism and militarism; these are the rewards of living under a system that is designed to squeeze every cent of value from people and the environment.
If elected in November, I will stand against the cynical political establishment and push for dramatic and meaningful change for working class people and our communities.
