In a wealthy country like Australia, everyone should have access to affordable housing, quality public services, and the essentials needed to live with dignity.
Hi, I'm Moss, and I'm running in the upcoming state election as the Victorian Socialists candidate for the District of Narracan because I believe in a society that puts people before profit.
Born in Iran and an engineer by trade, I studied and worked in Japan, China, and New Zealand before settling in Australia 13 years ago. Australia is now the country I proudly call home. A resident of Drouin for the past nine years, I work as a disability and education support worker. I am a member of the Health and Community Services Union (HACSU) and a long-time activist against foreign wars and for public investment in local communities.
Working-class people have been ignored for too long by politicians who are compromised by the ultra-wealthy, allowing a small minority to amass extraordinary wealth, power, and influence while living standards decline for everyone else. Across Narracan, people are struggling with rising costs. Public transport is inadequate, housing and childcare have become unaffordable, and even basic healthcare such as dental care is beyond the reach of many local families.
The cost-of-living crisis is not inevitable. It is a choice by our political class. In a wealthy country like Australia, everyone should have access to affordable housing, quality public services, and the essentials needed to live with dignity. Practical measures could make an immediate difference, including Medicare-covered dental care and a PBS-style scheme for basic groceries to ensure essential food remains affordable for everyone.
The billionaire class and powerful corporate interests donate to the two major parties as well as right-wing parties, which help preserve a system that works for the few rather than the many. I believe we should hold to account those who have caused and benefited from this crisis, rather than blaming minorities and vulnerable people.
If elected, I will fight against war, racism, corporate donation to political parties and for transparency, affordable housing, properly funded public services, fair wages, and investment in the communities that make Narracan strong.
