As a candidate for state parliament, I'm committed to standing up for this community and fighting for a society that puts people before profit.
Hi, I'm Priya. I'm running as the Victorian Socialists candidate for Thomastown in this November's state election.
I'm a veterinary nurse, student and renter. I've lived in the Thomastown area almost my entire life, and have a strong connection to our community and the issues people here face day to day.
Through my involvement in the community, I've seen the failures of the current Labor government - particularly in healthcare, education, public transport and shared community spaces. These are areas that directly affect working-class people and highlight the urgent need for real political change.
I'm proud of the community I have grown up in and of the cultural diversity that defines Thomastown. As a candidate for state parliament, I'm committed to standing up for this community and fighting for a society that puts people before profit.
We need people in parliament who are prepared to stand up to the billionaires and big corporations that dominate politics in this country today. I'm committed, if elected, to doing just that.
In recent years I've organised and campaigned for justice for Palestine, refugee rights, environmental justice and against the weapons industry - we need more money for healthcare, education and housing, not war!
If I'm elected to parliament in November, I'll fight for you.
