A better future won’t be handed to us by those at the top. It will be built by working-people acting together for dignity, equality, and justice.

Hi I’m Rayan. I'm running as the Victorian Socialists candidate for Kororoit in this November's state election. I’m a youth worker and I’ve studied, lived, and worked in Melbourne's west for many years.

I’m running in this election because I’m sick of out of touch career politicians who have never had to worry about rent, bills, and the growing hardship in our society making decisions for the rest of us. Melbourne’s west is growing faster than anywhere else in the country, but working-class people are facing a generational collapse in our living standards.

As a youth worker in the area, I see the human cost of political failures by Labor every day. Like families without housing and skipping meals, and workers burning out just trying to pay their rent or mortgage. These things are a direct result of political choices made by parties that serve big business instead of the workers who create all the wealth in Australia.

For more than 20 years this seat has been held by Labor and all working-class people have to show for it is ever increasing rents and mortgages, overstretched schools and hospitals, and poor infrastructure. All while developers and corporations cash in on the booming population.

Labor has continued to take the votes of regular people for granted while governing for the same interests as the Liberals.

I’m a proud activist and ASU unionist. I’ve been involved in the Palestine solidarity movement, refugee justice, and anti-racist and anti-fascist organising across the west. I have marched, organised and taken strike action, including striking for Palestine, because I believe change and justice requires action not just empty words.

I stand for international solidarity, for refugee rights, and for a world free from oppression and exploitation. A better future won’t be handed to us by those at the top. It will be built by working-people acting together for dignity, equality, and justice.

I hope you'll join me in my campaign!
