Hi, Im Zoe. I’m proud to be standing in this year’s state election as the Victorian Socialists candidate for Euroa.
Growing up in Shepparton, I always thought I was one of only a few lefties - outraged at the election of Trump in the US and the rise of far-right politics around the world, the surge of sexism and homophobia, and the constant barrage of Islamophobia and racism towards Indigenous people.

Regional towns should not be forgotten when it comes to things that make our communities liveable - affordable healthcare, public transport, properly funded schools, aged care and disability support, and community ‘third places’ for young people to enjoy without having to spend money just to exist. These services should be public, not operated for profit.
Like many renters who have bounced from house to house, I know the stress and insecurity of skyrocketing rents and rundown housing. That so many young people today may never know stable housing is an absolute indictment of the system built to reward big banks, greedy property developers and landlords.
I am absolutely horrified at the way in which the government has again and again swept the unfolding climate catastrophe under the rug. They say to look the other way when our towns are inundated with unprecedented flood waters, when fire and emergency services are gutted, and while the soil is degraded, waterways destroyed and biodiversity plundered in the name of profits.
I’ve been an organised socialist for half a decade. During that time I have been involved in organising for queer rights, against the cruel and inhumane treatment of refugees, and have helped lead the school strikes for Palestine and against Pauline Hanson.
If elected in November, I vow to keep up the fight for the better world we so desperately need and deserve.
