Socialists in Schools Organising Meeting

Our monthly organising meeting. We'll discuss the state of the industrial campaign, our push for bigger and longer strikes, and the nature of the union bureaucracy.

This is our organising meeting to plan the intervention for Socialists in Schools in the AEU industrial campaign during Term 2. After our amazing strikeof 40,000 education workers on 24 March, there is momentum coming from the thousands of teachers and ES who are fed up with the crisis in education. However, the strategy for term two endorsed by AEU State Council last Friday, which lays out an industrial strategy consisting solely of bans and scattered half-day stoppages, is in reality a de-escalation during this crucial time. We should figure out how to push back and fight for the campain that can win what we deserve in our next EBA.

Who is Socialists in Schools?

In a society ruled by profit, public education gets treated as an unwelcome cost to be minimised. The rich look after themselves, the rest of us are left to struggle. Labor, like the Liberals, serve this agenda. Socialists in Schools are members and supporters of Victorian Socialists. We want to bring back strike-focused unionism to win the schools that we, our students, and our communities deserve. We’re for working class people reclaiming all the wealth that we create, instead of it being hoarded by billionaires or channelled into wars, laws that divide and rule, and environmental destruction. Join us–we have a world to win.
