Sexism on the rise: a socialist response

This month’s news cycle has laid bare Australia’s misogyny problem: a study found a worrying share of teen boys think feminism should be “resisted with violence.” AFL “topless waitress” scandals and the booming customisable sex doll market treat women as objects. Meanwhile, Coalition figures blame teachers for “feminising the curriculum”—reinforcing the manosphere’s talking points.

Socialists have an answer: free childcare and aged care, close the gender pay gap, unlimited parental leave, and an end to profiting off women’s objectification. But real change will mean rebuilding a mass socialist movement that can end the capitalist system that gives rise to sexism and misogyny.

Join VS Brunswick 6pm Tuesday 22nd December for a public discussion on why capitalism creates misogyny and the socialist response to fighting and ending it.
