Put A Socialist In Parliament - Richmond & Northern Metro Campaign Launch
Sun 1 Nov @ 3:00 PM
The time is now to join an insurgent socialist movement on the cusp of getting a working class fighter into parliament. Come and hear from two of the people in with a shot at November's election - Omar Hassan and Chris Dite - and help us spread the word about our campaign in Richmond and across the north.
Victorian politics is in a deplorable state. The far right is on the offensive and plans to attack migrants and wind back womens' and workers' rights if elected this November. And Labor - who has overseen a devastating cost-of-living crisis - has nothing to offer but concessions to the right's dog-eat-dog politics.
We need a radical, anti-capitalist politics to confront the barbarity engulfing Victoria. Join us on November 1 to launch the final month of our state election campaign, where we have a serious chance of getting a socialist elected to parliament.
Hear from our upper house candidate for the Northern Metro - Omar Hassan (teacher and Palestine solidarity activist), and from our lower house candidate for Richmond - Chris Dite (teacher and ‘no cuts to cohealth’ campaigner), as they lay out their visions for how a socialist could use a parliamentary position to help build the workers’ movement and confront our political overlords head on.
The headlines from November's state election are likely to spell more doom and gloom for the left and working people. But getting a socialist elected would show there is an appetite for something more: for a politics of working class solidarity and for a politics that says working people deserve more than just the scraps off the tables of the rich.
This is a ticketed event, and all proceeds go to our election fighting fund and all the materials we need to make this campaign possible.
