Young people deserve better

Young people are locked out of decisions that shape their lives, paid less than adults for the same work, and have few or no options to find a home when they need to live independently.

What we think

1. Youth wages are wage theft.
2. Young people should have a say in the decisions that govern their lives.
3. Youth homelessness is a crime.

We’ll fight to

1. Abolish youth wages and all age-based reduced pay.
2. Guarantee workers under 18 the same superannuation and entitlements as every other worker.
3. Abolish the income cap on Youth Allowance, so no young person is punished with a lost payment for taking on a low-paid apprenticeship or first job.
4. Reduce the voting age to 16.
5. Build public youth housing at a target of one place for every five 16-year-olds in Victoria.
