Taking on the far right

Amid a surge in support for One Nation in Victoria and across Australia, we need your help to take on the far right in 2026.

Donate to our fighting fund and volunteer to help us campaign against the politics of racism and division. We’ll be taking a message of anti-racist solidarity direct to working-class households in areas where One Nation has been winning new voters, and organising for a united fightback against the right.

Our plan to take on the far right

Socialists believe we have an important role to play in pushing back against the divisive and racist ideas of the far right. Hanson’s politics are designed to divide working people against each other. By blaming migrants for rising rents, the housing crisis, or soaring supermarket prices, she is distracting from the real causes of the pressures facing ordinary people.

It is not migrants who set rents or interest rates. It is not migrant workers who control electricity prices or decide how much it costs to attend university. Migrants struggling to find their feet in Australia are not the ones cutting funding to hospitals and schools.

These decisions are made by Australia’s capitalist ruling class - billionaires and the politicians who serve them. People like mining magnate Gina Rinehart and property developer Harry Triguboff wield enormous influence over Australian politics and the economy. They profit while working people face rising living costs, stagnant wages and an increasingly insecure future.

It is no surprise that Hanson wants to distract from this reality. She herself has received millions in support from Rinehart, Australia’s richest person. While she claims to stand up for “ordinary Australians”, her politics ultimately serve the interests of the wealthy by shifting blame onto migrants and minorities instead of the billionaire class.

Victorian Socialists wants to challenge politics as usual. We oppose all the political parties that defend the status quo and the power of the billionaires. Instead, we want to build a party and a movement of workers, students and migrants that cannot be bought by big money.

Our campaign will take this argument directly into working-class suburbs across Melbourne. We want to say clearly and confidently: billionaires are to blame and migrants are welcome.

Many people are uneasy about the rise of Hanson and the far right, but are unsure how to respond. We believe the answer is organisation. By building a visible, confident socialist presence in our communities, we can challenge racist ideas and offer a real alternative.

That means campaigning in our suburbs, putting forward a clear class argument, and covering our streets with positive messages of solidarity and equality. We want to push back against the far right and build a movement capable of winning a better society for everyone.

We hope you will join us in our campaign. Together we can challenge racism, confront the billionaires, and fight for a society run in the interests of the many—not the wealthy few.
