Western Metro All-In Doorknock: Werribee & Tarneit
Sun 8 Nov @ 12:00 PM
Join Victorian Socialists for this all-in Western Metro doorknock in Werribee and Tarneit
We will be meeting at 12pm at Werribee Station, top of the underpass on the Manly Street side. We will head out in doorknocking teams to let people know about local candidates Sue Munro for Werribee and Leah Van Keulen for Tarneit.
Sue is a nurse, mum of two and socialist activist of more than two decades. Sue has been involved in campaigns for disability access, public housing, fighting against racism, supporting the LBGTQ community, supporting reproductive freedom for women and much more. Sue is fighting for the services working class communities in Werribee deserve, after years of neglect by the Labor party.
Leah is a public school teacher and proud trade unionist. Leah helped lead the historic industrial campaign in the Australian Education Union, with the Socialists in Schools, that won important gains for education staff who are facing a crisis of under funding. Leah has seen first hand how working class kids and their families have been failed by the system and is running to make the issues they are facing a priority.
Please bring a car, if possible, so we can reach all areas of the electorates.
If you’re new to doorknocking, don’t worry! You will be paired up with an experienced volunteer who can show you the ropes and you will be provided with some useful talking points. There will also be plenty of time to get to know other volunteers before and after the doorknock, with a debrief happening at a pub nearby.
What to bring:
Comfortable shoes
A car, if possible
Water, sunscreen/weather-appropriate gear
Your energy and enthusiasm! And rage at the system of capitalism!
Please register so we can plan materials accordingly.
