Western Metro All-In: Williamstown & Point Cook

We will be meeting at 12pm at Paine Reserve, Mason St, Newport. We will head out in doorknocking teams to let people know about local candidates Oskar Martin for Williamstown and Taylor Laine for Point Cook.

Oskar is a proud Bundjalung and Kamilaroi man who has grown up in the Western suburbs for most of his life. Oskar is an anti-racist activist who has been apart of campaigns to kick out neo-Nazis presiding in a Sunshine gym, and opposing the introduction of private security guards in Footscray by the local council.

Taylor works as a hairdresser and has heard how working people in the local community feel left behind - churned up and broken by an economic system geared towards enriching the wealthiest few at the cost of everyone else. Taylor will fight for access to education, from early childhood to TAFE or uni, connectivity through public services, transport and infrastructure, and a liveable planet - things that shouldn’t be a pipe dream for so many, but are.

Please bring a car, if possible, so we can reach all areas of the electorates.

If you’re new to doorknocking, don’t worry! You will be paired up with an experienced volunteer who can show you the ropes and you will be provided with some useful talking points. There will also be plenty of time to get to know other volunteers before and after the doorknock, with a debrief happening at a pub nearby.

What to bring:

• Comfortable shoes

• A car, if possible

• Water, sunscreen/weather-appropriate gear

• Your energy and enthusiasm! And rage at the system of capitalism!
